It might be best for you to contact the Fire Station down there to see if they would be willing to manually activate it, that is - if it is still powered and in operation. Thanks for the link, nice recording. I would ask them to activate it but I'm all the way on the other side of the states in Wis...

Thunderbolt shown in photo gallery about Dyrk Burcie

Firefighters put together a special album for a young man fighting liver cancer to help his spirits. While looking through it, this one showed a Thunderbolt on top of the firehouse. http://news.yahoo.com/photos/firefighters-honor-dying-boy-slideshow/undated-photo-provided-dallas-fire-department-dall...

After browsing the .pdf file (thanks, commonsense!), can anyone tell me why the city of Platteville would have chosen this particular siren? I was thinking something to do with dynamics of the city, with a siren in about every corner, to also cover the surrounding farms. They never use the voice war...

I'll have to get a picture sometime, but I know for sure the sirens here are black and are about double the height.

Modulator Sirens in Platteville, WI

I didn't catch the wind up, but as a siren fan I was fortunate to have this blast last me almost two minutes! Most likely sounding for a fire or accident in the country. I would try to find out what Modulator it is, but doing my own research I see there are a ton of different versions. The "cho...

I was never in Burnsville, just chatting with my sister about the sirens :-).

Platteville did their monthly testing today; if the city had a variety of sirens I definitely would have recorded it.

I also love watching (well, probably more listening) to videos featuring the Diaphone. Just a unique and rather funny mechanism for siren calls. My hometown of Lancaster, WI also has STH-10s, which makes a beautiful sound with the mighty Thunderbolt, practically planted in the center of town. A year...

Yeah, hey :-)

I wasn't on this siren board for probably a good year, but now I'm checking every day on the Audio/Video form for new videos, especially of Thunderbolt 1000Ts.

Glad to be back!
