Re: Plano WPS-4008 Removal Spree

I've never quite understood the concept of replacing an electronic siren just because it's old. A controller upgrade essentially makes an old siren head new again if the old controllers are being a nuisance. 4008s are great sirens and relatively easy to keep running especially since it shares parts ...

Re: Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Both 612s in Richland, Missouri are SiraTone units. The sirens heard in the video posted are Thunderbolts and Whelens in Richland, Mississippi. I'm so impressed by how good you all are at IDing sirens and locations. I'll have to try some sort of flashcard studying to help my brain connect siren ton...

Re: Question about Richland MO EOWS 612s

Hi everyone I found a video here showing what's without a doubt a recording of the Richland MO siren system, since 2 distinct EOWS 612s can be heard sounding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLj1GCwXTcU I wanted to see if anyone here was local to the area and could answer some questions for me. See ...

Re: Modulators and 12 Port Sirens Question.

From experience, a Modulator can be moderate in terms of loudness, but it really depends on the number of cells. How many cells do the ones by you have? Another factor is pitch; Modulators have a higher pitch (Ab) than the aforementioned mechanicals (F), so the higher sounds have a harder time with...

Re: UPDATED (SIREN EXISTS): The Whelen WS-2500

If I'm not mistaken, in the patent of the Alertronic, Biersach literally cited the WS-3000 patent and criticized it right within patent.

What will they do with the whelens though?

Re: Indian Rock Thunderbolt (Berkely, CA)

That’s definitely a jailbar. The screen is consistent with that. I’ve seen and heard two before. That’s a 1000 (single toned model); these were never made dual tone. They were made from 1952 (first year the Thunderbolt was produced) till about 1955 when the jailbar was dropped and a simple mesh scr...

Re: After nearly 15 years....I have a siren!

Do the drivers have a positive and negative? There are 1 and 2 labeled terminals. I know one driver is going to be loud. They don't have a positive and negative so much that they have phases. If you connect 2 or more drivers to one amp, they need to be on the same phase. To keep things simple in my...
