Re: Federal STH-10 restoration

The STH-10 was a great siren. It had a nice sound for single tone siren which carried well. Also had a nice startup and LONG winddown. The city of Smyrna, GA(where I formerly lived) installed a system of these sirens in the 70s and enlarged it over the years. They were tested every Saturday at noon....

Re: Gatlinburg sirens and Kentucky sirens

The Owenton P.O. siren looks more like a "Master Blaster." Haven't seen any ATIs with speakers that big.

Re: Federal STH-10 restoration

Interesting! The STH-10 is my 2nd favorite siren after Tbolt. The city of Smyrna, GA where I formerly lived installed a system of STH-10s in the 70s and then added several more during the 80s. The sirens were tested every Saturday at noon. I lived about 4 blocks from one and could hear it clearly in...

Re: Nashville is getting new sirens

I found some more Eclipse sirens today; Parmer Park in Belle Meade; Hillwood Pumping Station; Haywood Elementary School; Apollo Middle School. The Cane Ridge Reservoir must be off the beaten path. I've tried a Google and other map searches for it. There's a narrow road at the approximate location wh...

Re: Nashville is getting new sirens

Conference Drive @ Vietnam Veterans I haven't been out that way in several years, but agree that it is a good location for a siren; especially a 508. Makes me wonder why the one at intersection of Bell Rd. & Bell Forge Lane(near the former Hickory Hollow Mall) is an Eclipse. That area is satura...

Re: Nashville is getting new sirens

I found 2 more of the new Nashville sirens this morning. Paragon Mills Park has an Eclipse, while a 508 is located at Antioch High School. I had suspected the AHS siren would be a 508 as the previous ATI was a HPSS 32. Had hoped to get a photo of it. However, the horn was pointed so that the sun was...

Re: 3rd Thunderbolt found in Chattanooga, TN.

Interesting! The only ones I knew about are atop Mary Walker Towers and the low mounted one at Belvoir Pharmacy. I've made hundreds of trips from Nashville to Atlanta so am familiar with the MWT siren; it can easily be seen from I-24. Don't know how long ago it was taken out of service, but it's bee...

Re: Cobb County Thunderbolts removed

Cobb County has replaced its old T bolts with Whelen sirens; city of Smyrna installed Whelens as well.

What's the difference between the 4004 and Vortex? Is one voice capable?

Re: Lubbock Again Considers Sirens

Regarding ATI; hope they'd look at Nashville's experience with those things!
