Re: Siren And Installation Costs

For our Federal Signal and American Signal sites cost depends on size –

The big 128 dB rotating units are $9 to $10k

Smaller omni-directional units are $6 to $8k

Plus radio controls, batteries, pole, installation.

Re: Texas Siren Testing

Why is the first Wednesday at noon so damn common?
Hmm, good question. It's halfway through Hump Day?

I'll ask my guys at DCEM and see if they know. I'll bet it's an accepted practice from the National Weather Service.

Re: Where can I hear sirens near me?

Contact your local Emergency Management and ask. They will tell you when they test as well. They might be suspicious at first but you're not the only amature "spotter" out there.

It's covering a portion the eastern side of the city where there's a hospital, insurance headquarters, a dozen car dealerships and condo complexes. 6 batteries kicking out >78vDC makes a hell of a noise. Well, at least 135 dB. Location is ...

Hmm. That's interesting. What is gonna happen to it?
Dane County will renovate it and put it on display. They also have the original siren that was on Madison East High School. We had it in storage at the shop. It's as big as a minivan. I'm not sure where they plan to display them.

Re: T-128 test

There are two sensors on the wiring to the two motors in the T-128. One on the rotation motor the other on the blower motor (chopper motor). Its assumed that the detected voltages indicate motor function... if the sensors are properly calibrated.

T-128 test

We were having sensor issues with this siren. It repeatedly claimed motor blower failure after activation. Obviously it works fine.
