I would assume maintenance is also an aggravating factor.

The rotators and blowers were a real pain to maintain on these. Great sirens, just a lot of maintenance. It's not such a big deal if you have just one, such as for a small town, but if you have a whole county full, it must be annoying.

Heat Shut-off Relay

Some of the electromechanical sirens are interesting, in the fact that they will actually automatically shut-off if the sensor in their motor detects significant enough heat to ruin it. I am only aware of the 2t22/3t22 3-phase siren having this capability, but perhaps there are others? The speakers ...
