Adopt-A-Siren program

Just wondering if any other city, county, etc., has this program. For over five years I've been a member of our city's police department's Adopt-A-Siren program. Our county's siren system is tested once a month on the first Monday of the month at 9 AM. The test involves the unincorporated county EMA...

St. Charles, Mo. ASC T-128 sold to Winfield, Mo.

To any St. Louis area siren enthusiasts, I just found out yesterday that the City of St. Charles sold one of their ASC T-128's to the City of Winfield. There's a video on YouTube of the siren being tested in Winfield, saying that the rotator was broken but that it was later repaired after the video ...

Whelen WPS-2806 now sounds like a 2900-series Whelen after repairs

I wrote a post on Friday, March 29th about the Whelen WPS-2806 near my house malfunctioning around 4:30 AM, when it activated off and on for about an hour. It was out of service for about a week or so, and the motherboard was sent to Whelen so they could determine what caused the malfunction. Long s...

Re: Malfunctioning Whelen WPS-2807 this morning at 4:38 in O'Fallon, Mo.

The St. Louis FOX affiliate just aired a story about the malfunctioning siren on the 9 PM news a few minutes ago. EMA officials can't figure out why the siren activated. It could've been struck by lightning yesterday or moisture could've affected it somehow; they're just unsure right now. The mother...

The good thing is that the siren blared in test mode volume and not in the much louder emergency mode volume.

Re: Malfunctioning Whelen WPS-2807 this morning at 4:38 in O'Fallon, Mo.

I just drove by the siren about 25 minutes ago and two technicians from O'Fallon P.D.'s EMA Division were there, with a ladder extended up to the controls box. Both techs were standing on the ground talking, I'm guessing, trying to figure out what caused this morning's activation.

Malfunctioning Whelen WPS-2806 this morning at 4:38 in O'Fallon, Mo.

The Whelen WPS-2806 located about a half-mile from our house went off this morning at 4:38, waking my wife and I up. I immediately got out of bed and turned on the TV in our bedroom to a local news channel, expecting to see the multiple county map in the lower left hand corner of the TV screen with ...

Re: St. Louis, Mo. and St. Louis County, Mo. siren history

There are very few fire stations that I know of in St. Louis County that still have Model 2's left over from the days when those fire departments or districts were all-volunteer. The fire station that's referred to located on Wild Horse Creek Road with the Model 2 is Monarch Fire Protection District...
