Interesting takes on this subject. I was leading funerals with my hearse when our hearses were still being used as our ambulances. I had a siren under each hood. Did I ever use them? Not once. If I had them today would I use them? No, not any need. The lead car in my funeral processions has a purple...

Who made this

I remember a friend having an electronic siren on his station wagon that was called a Dominator I think. It had a very distinct and pleasing yelp as I remember. It was only a 58 watt siren like the Federal Director and Interceptor. Who made this Domintator as I never saw any advertisements for it or...

When we switched from mechanical (28's) to electronic (58 watt Directors) on our ambulances we lost volume and a considerable amount of traffic control and driver respect because the electronic siren did not project the sound as well and as loud as the old mechanical sirens. The upside was like Robe...

Our firetrucks here have both electronic sirens (100 watt Federals) with 2 speakers and a trusty Q2-B on the bumper. Going out and listening as the sound disappears in the distance, the first and last sound heard is that sound coming from the Q. Sorry but a mechanical siren just stirs sound waves be...

I have a couple of beacon rays but I have about 7 or 8 sirens starting from a Q and going down to the WL. I also have a B & M Siro~drift. The one without chrome. That's enough for me.

Under taker, Do you know where i could get my hands on a Q stator and rotor? John Dorgan might know but I think it would cost more to convert than to find an old one and buy. My advise would be to look at small town fire departments, junkyards or small town funeral homes that might have saved one. ...

I have a C4B but it isn't a low tone siren. It will break glass. It has the brake because it is a coaster siren. It seems to have a muffled sound with the grill on though. Kind of like being in a barrel or when we would put a 28 under the hood of a station wagon behind the radiator.

It's not plastic explosive. A C4B is a Federal siren that is larger than the model 28 but smaller than a Q. It is a coaster type and has a sound similar to a Super Chief charged and drifting. Of course it is a typical Federal high pitch siren that would break glass in Chinatown. It also has a brake....

I believe the motor is the same as a Q or at least I always thought they were. The 28 and up all appeared to have the same motor. By the way my C4 came with a brake. It doesn't coast as long as a Q but would make you noticed pulling up to a highway accident and not having time to brake it.

That will be a nice siren and should be easily restored to new condition. Does it have a brake? They used the same brake as a Q and it was mounted on the side of the motor housing. Maybe there is a hole pre-drilled for the brake plunger. You can find those on ebay also. Congratulations on your new p...
