Sorry to bump such an old thread, but either I've lost my marbles due to a recent migraine or I heard what I think is a Model 5T siren. :) EDIT: Just to point it out I am currently on the Canadian side of Sault Ste. Marie, but the two cities are literally next to each other. I'll have to look around...

All the San Fransisco ATI's do. The EMA director wanted them to sound familiar since most of that system was composed of STL-10's so he had them put a sound card in with an STL-10's recording. Yes, the SanFran's ATI soundcards have an STL-10 recording on it. However, the lower frequency of the reco...

Has anyone else noticed how closely their E Class sirens resemble ATI products? I believe they use the very same speakers. Hopefully they are better units. As far as I know it was discussed several months ago that the speaker horns themselves were obtained from an Asian manufacturer and that merely...

I'm not going to make any sassy remarks, but I will say it's only a matter of time before something's going to fail.

Re: EOWS 612 with Modulator-sounding tone

Consider it as a cheap way of retrofitting it without having to replace the entire unit. Well, as far as I know the original EOWS* 612s' tone generators were analog and the UltraVoice controllers used digitally controlled tone generators; retrofitting the controller should be enough to increase rel...

After looking at the video in more detail, it seems to me that the siren must be rotating using its own rotator motor rather than being spun by hand - the movement seems too smooth to be done by hand. If the CLM genuinely is rotating under its own power, it must be doing something like 16 RPM - or ...

Not necessarily. Mechanical sirens will still have a place years from now in my opinion.

Perhaps it won't be AC powered but will like most nowadays operate off DC power.

Me too. The only thing is that the port size will have to change, and that'll reduce what already meager sound output the 2001 already has.
