Re: Need Help identifying siren...

More than likely 3 phase. Every siren I own is 2 wire single phase or "3" wire 3 phase

Re: Retrofitting a coding mechanism onto a siren

I would consider making a butterfly valve intake for it like a 3T22

Re: RC5WA off a SD-10

Squeeze that SD10 into a USPS flat rate box and ship it to Peru NY, I will give it a home 😜

Re: Model five help/questions

Hit it with penetrating oil, let it soak in for a day. Is there holes in the top of the rotor to screw in a harmonic balancer puller? If it doesn't come off easily try using heat, but don't go crazy with it. I have pulled keys out using a pry bar and chisels with a hammer...gently.

Re: Sterling M5 Restoration Advice

My job keys had to be "rocked" out with a pry bar, hammer and penetrating oil. If the key seems to be taking alot of force to move, use heat to expand the metal around the key. Be careful what you use for penetrating oil, because not everything likes open flame! After the keys were removed...

Sterling Y, new addition

My new Sterling Y from Jermyn PA. Seeking advice for Sterling disassembly

I won an auction on a Sterling Y, and I was curious if anyone here has pulled one apart. I am not sure if the actual brake mechanism is still in tact. I just need an idea what to bring for tools and was wondering if the rotors pull off with a balancer puller like on most Federals.

Re: My new B-Series 1003

Rotator motor shouldn’t be a big deal, keep an eye out for old 1/4 or 1/3 Hp motors on Craigslist, marketplace or local garage sales. Your blower deal could be a PITA to figure out but regardless you still have a noise maker. The solenoids… I have no insight on that whole deal. Not having a timer is...

Re: Advice For Newer Enthusiasts?

When it comes to collecting them there are a few snags. Many sirens are ran by 3 phase motors, without proper power supply they could end up being unintentional lawn art. When you get over the 2 hp rating into the big units they tend to get heavy (250 lbs up to 1000) another hurtle even if you have ...
