Re: Fantasy Siren Map Challenges!

I'd like to suggest my hometown of Colorado Springs/El Paso County, Colorado... Primary Justification: 5 military installations surround the city proper, average terrain goes from rolling prairie to the east, to rugged canyons and foothills to the west. County population was just over 625,000 in 201...

Re: News story on copper stolen from siren

If you're serious about killing copper theft on outdoor installs on any kind, you'll install either Aluminum (stepped up one size) or copper-weld, a thinly copper plated steel wire. A thief will steal some, try to sell it, and either get busted... Or quit attempting to steal it and move on to someth...

Re: Simla, CO Sick Thunderbolt 1000A (fixed)

In my talks to Simla VFD Chief John Hillmann several years ago, They ran push-button alert one or 2 times whenever a warning came across their radios, at the siren site.

Simla, CO Sick Thunderbolt 1000A (fixed)

That's one sick t'bolt. It's set off several times on 6/4/15 by members of Simla VFD, led by Chief John Hillmann to warn the approx 650 people of Simla of the threat of multiple tornadoes nearby that evening...

Re: Poorly Maintained Sirens??

Calhan, CO's 550AT. The top is riddled with hail damage and little paint, but otherwise still sounds great.

Re: Military Bases with Sirens?

I live in a town full of bases... Peterson AFB has Whelens, Ft Carson's got Mods, and the USAFA has Whelens as well.

Interesting note between the Army and Air Force divisions: at 1700H, the Army just does the retreat bugle. The Air Force at 1700H does Retreat and also broadcasts the National Anthem.

Although simulated, this clip by N. Oakman is a personal favorite.

Re: History Producer Looking To Record a Working Siren aroun

If I had to guess, in 1942, model 2s, 3s, and 5s would be fairly accurate, as these were the most common fire sirens of the time frame.

Re: Lion King Signal newest copys

Or the LK550TT... All they'd have to do is place a in-stock benchgrinder siren on a powered turntable and add 2 projectors. Would be amazingly effective in municipal use atop medium-rise (5-7 floors) buildings.
