Re: Gainesville TX Future Siren System? Mmmm.... no EDIT: IT's BACK ONLINE!

Both San Angelo and Abilene have been hit by tornadoes in the last couple weeks. We will see if anything changes. Gainesville made a really stupid decision to abandon their system, but glad to see it’s back in service. Their testing is always finicky...they cancel if a mosquito farts.

Re: San Onofre Whelen 2810s and 2806s not being removed

I am sad to see those thunderbolts and whelens go, but I am kind of releaved because if the San Andreas goes that plant goes with it and we have another fukashima. How do you figure that will equal Fukushima? The plant is in decommissioning stages. Fukushima was a fully functioning power plant and ...

Re: Siren Advice

You’d definitely be better off with Sentry if you go for a new siren. However, depending how limited your budget is, you may opt for a obtaining a used siren.

Re: New Mexico Sirens

Unless you're on the eastern side of New Mexico, there aren't many sirens in the state I'm aware of. Roswell is the largest city with a system. I assume you'll come in on IH-40. Re: Phase Convertor

You're pretty much gonna have to have a dedicated service from the utility for an ACA siren. They pull so much current that you'd pop all breakers in your house (assuming this is where you're intending to to this). Re: Question about STH-10 and Model 5 sirens

Another big difference would be the fact that the STH10s had 10/7.5hp motors and the Model 5 had 5/7.5hp motors. The horsepower depended upon the phase. The single phase units had higher horsepower.

I guess they've been removed? If they are still there I wish I would've known when I was up there a couple years ago.

So has anyone got contacts up at FS or called up and asked around? I just don't believe it.

Re: VT Yankee's final siren test

Don't expect to get a reply from Entergy. I sent them an inquisitive email after learning the fate of Fitzpatrick and Pilgrim. I never got a response. I believe Entergy will shut down all nuclear plants in the Northeast.
