Re: Franklin County, Ohio Siren Discussion

After that happened in Dallas, I told my brother it surprised me that it hasn’t happed sooner here in Franklin County since the activation protocol is pretty simple; just a fast dtmf without like an “arm” signal or any other safeguards I can think of. I would think many Whelen systems or anything us...

Re: Analog Whelen Tornado Siren Peak Pitch Fluctuation Glitch

I have noticed the fluctuation in pitch as well on the Westerville Fire (Schrock Rd.) 4004 and always attributed it to weather. I can hear both that one and the dual tone further away from my house and it seemed like the pitch was slightly lower on colder days. Side note, Whetstone park’s 4004 contr...

Re: Thunderbolt Blowers Mounted INSIDE Buildings?

The 1003 in Bourbonnais, IL has the blower mounted inside a small room on the roof along with some of the building’s elevator equipment. This siren was installed with the rebuilding of the 4th floor of the building it sits on after taking a direct hit with an F-4 tornado in 1963.

Re: Madison County, Ohio test time

I drove out to Plain City about a month ago to check on this siren and I believe it's still hooked up to power and the switch appeared on.

Re: Huntington, IN Screamer 9/5/2016

Has the replacement of their sirens actually been confirmed, or is this just assumed since they've replaced 2 or 3 recently?

Re: ACA: Screamer S-5. Huntington, IN

I remember reading somewhere that there were just 9 sirens in Huntington, so you should have them all. Noting the gap in coverage, I've wondered if there was another siren around like Huntington Labs (EcoLab now I think) just west of that intersection, but never saw anything around there when I live...

Re: ACA: Screamer S-5. Huntington, IN

I believe there is (or was) another roof-mounted Screamer in an industrial park on the SW side of town. It should be on the north side of the roof of a building north of the water tower on Riverfork Dr.

Re: East Texas sirens

This might be considered more NE Texas, but I passed at least two Sentry Siren 16V1T-Bs, one along I30 in Mount Vernon and an ASC T-121 in Hooks.

Re: Dublin Siren Malfunction

Yep, Dublin, Ohio. Sorry about that.

I figured right away it was more than likely a short in the ribbon cable.
