H.O.R. Super Sirex Siren Map

A little while ago I took it upon myself to start tracking down as many of the (currently) known past-and-present locations of cold-war era H.O.R (Harry O. Ricci) model "Super Sirex" sirens. Obviously, I haven't tracked down every single Super Sirex location, but with the help of a couple ...

American Signal T-121 5PM Test | Decatur, Georgia

Here's the monthly test of one of the city of Decatur's recently installed American Signal T-121s. This particular siren located at the entrance to Ebster Pool, right next to the Police Department. This siren is one of two that were installed in two different parts of town to fill in a couple of gap...

Durham, NC Thunderbolt Remains

So I while back I found this article about an auditorium in Durham, NC which was torn down in the mid-1980's to make way for a freeway. Next to that auditorium was one of Durham's two Thunderbolts, and that siren was ultimately discarded in the woods and left to rot. (http://www.opendurham.org/build...

Re: Decatur, Georgia New Sirens

Those Vortexes seem of newer style, the Whelen Logo isn't even faded. How long have they been up? As for the 121s, they have the new style ASC logo, meaning they're brand new, as you mentioned. Wonder why they're replacing the Whelens? The Whelens were installed in late 2009, so they're barely 9 ye...

Decatur, Georgia New Sirens

So I was on my way to lunch today in Decatur, GA, and I noticed that at my old elementary school, standing right next to a Whelen Vortex is a brand spankin' new ASC T-121. After lunch, I drive around town and find that there are T-121s standing next to all the Vortexes, as well as at least one new s...

Re: 6/28/17 Macon, GA RSH-10 test

Here is my video of said siren. It ended up going off 2 minutes late, but we were plenty happy that it activated regardless. :)

I was surprised that it ended up going for 2 minutes of alert instead of the usual 1 minute of alert.

Two Successful Siren Tests in One Day (6/7/17)

On Wednesday, me and Brendan W. took a trip to the SD-10 and Model 2 duo in Oxford, Georgia behind the Emory Post Office just off of SR-81 & Whatcoat St. We expected the sirens to run only the typical 15-30 seconds of alert, but for whatever reason, they did three minutes of alert instead. :D Th...

Re: About Atlanta's old system...

Now that is an awesome find! Definitely going to drop by there and grab some photos next time I'm in Atlanta. That'd be cool, however being an Atlanta resident, I'll warn you to be cautious of West Atlanta. That's a very bad area to my understanding. Not trying to derail my own thread here but givi...
