[quote="holler"][quote="SirenkiD"]... If I am not mistaken, most phone-operated systems require the user to enter a pass code/command code before the device will activate. In other words, you dial the number (123) 456-7890x1234. I've never done it myself, but I assume it's like ...

Would a wrong number start the siren?
Or must the siren "answer" the phone line and receive a code?

You can get a Sentry G3 siren controller for $1900. Then all you need is a radio with DTMF or Two Tone Sequential capabilities. Or a Genave RXC-2000 for only $1,292.. http://www.genave.com/rxc-2000_prod.htm They can even act as a siren controller, to use steady, wail, and fast wail. Not a bad price...

Re: West Texas Sirens Cont'd from Cont'd :]

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/Sirenkid07/100_1082-1.jpg ... Nice photos, kiD. Where does the air enter? Up through the motor housing, cooling the motor and some up through the lower stator? And through that space between the upper and lower stators? Does any enter beneathe rain cap? I'd ex...

... Why not use the 8 hp motors and save the expense of custom building 20 hp motors and using more expensive 20 hp motors? I suppose that a purpose-built 20 hp motor would be better for longevity than potentially overstressing 8 hp motors. Quite a difference increasing from 16 total hp to 40 hp! B...

WHY introduce the whole phone situation into this when a simple radio decoder and touchtone microphone or encoder will accomplish the task? Because radio and decoder would be the SMART way to do it. I was thinking that officers, or low-life scum like me, could sound the siren using cell phones. Oft...

The motors on the 40V2T-B are custom built, fan cooled 20hp DC motors. Originally, Sentry was toying with 8hp motors as shown in a post earlier in this thread. Later, it was decided that the development of the more ?beefy? 20hp motor would more effectively deliver the results the R & D team was...

Was hoping the motors would be coupled together. Otherwise, there may be some interesting intervals as they speed up and descend in speed differently. What are the stator port ratios? Can'they make use of the rotor intakes to broadcast sound? I want lower frequency - fewer ports with onexponential p...

If you have the means to and the money, and if the siren is going to be regularly used as an active and meaningful warning device, I would do nothing other than radio activation or get a regular land line. Doing any internet-based systems just adds on more and more methods of possible failure. If t...
