It's safe to say that the model 2 is one of Federal's mainstays, being relatively unchanged since the days of the model 1 and 2, when the company was called Federal Electric.

Peterson AFB here in Colorado Springs, CO has Whelen 2800 series sirens, about 5-7 of them spread out over the base, that shares runways with municipal airport KCOS. I can hear three from my house, which lies about a mile north of the base. The three heard at my location are: 2@ 440Hz, and 1@ 465 Hz...

KRDO Channel 13 has a clip on the web: http://www.krdo.com/news/Manitou-Springs-unveils-new-alert-system/-/417220/17615876/-/hi67g6/-/index.html In my opinion, a standard 3 minute tone is far more effective than voice alerts, given the canon they are in. One mile in any direction, except east, is st...

I know there is one in Lockwood, NV I think the Sugar City siren is still in place, as this suggests: http://goo.gl/maps/TEPJl It points a different direction from the last time Google came through, so I'm betting it's in service. Contact Sugar City Hall @ 205 Colorado Ave, Sugar City, CO 81076 or ...

I'm getting ahold of Manitou Springs dept of Public works on Monday. Will post back then. There are 2 other 550s in service in Colorado. Calhan is unlikely to stop using theirs. It's in great mechanical and electrical condition.

It's on the city's main page; http://www.manitouspringsgov.com/ and KRDO channel 13 news ran a 1-minute piece on their noon news.

Manitou Springs Federal Signal 550-AT replaced

Manitou Springs, CO has replaced their 1958 Federal Signal 550AT, with an ASC E*Class siren, in response to the Waldo Canyon Fire, and the need for a reliable outdoor warning siren. I viewed a news report on KRDO, showing the test live. Manitou tests at Fridays, 12pm in Hi-Lo with LIVE voice. The si...

Hugo, CO Noon Sirens

We hear 2 Sentry 3V8-Hs and an SD-10. Kinda reminds me of the Lacrosse, KS system as heard in a couple of tornado videos from 5/25/12.
