Re: 2014 Kansas statewide Tornado drill

Wow, Kansas has almost always held SWAW and the Statewide Tornado Drill on the 2nd Tuesday of March, in conjunction with Missouri. Quite surprised of the change. It appears as tho I'm off that day! I wonder what I should record...hmm. Might have to make a trip somewhere else (besides Shawnee County).

Emmetsburg, IA 500AT

Sounds like a 500AT to me. Filmed during last nights tornado warning. Not my video.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Here's a good one for you guys. I was in Fort Leavenworth this past weekend and seen these everywhere. Leavenworth County has a system of Thunderbolts and 2001s on Fort Leavenworth, so I assume these are just some "Giant Voice" system like Fort Riley has with it's ATIs. The older one reall...

Most likely not. A majority of Fort Riley is located in Riley County so my assumption is it might be owned/operated by Riley County. I know of 3 other 2001s (one a 2001-130) on the post. Some are a block from an ATI.

Re: Trip to Kansas City, Missouri

Does WYCO still have any Thunderbolts? Wyandotte County completely removed all of their old sirens (with the exception of the Thunderbolt ontop the WYCO Courthouse) but I don't think it's active anymore as a 2001 is a few blocks away. Wyandotte County has a huge system of 2001s and I recently withi...

Re: Creepy Siren Mix

Manhattan has 6 Whelen 2810s that were put in place by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Initially it's primary purpose was to warn those in low-lying areas of a dam failure due to an earthquake (Tuttle Creek Lake). The "Gas Proof Protection" was the tone used for Dam Failure. The US Army Co...

Re: Topeka, KS siren system 1966

Wow, it's a small world. Family on my father's side is from Topeka, in fact I still have the special edition of the Topeka Daily Capital (now the Capital-Journal) from June 9, 1966 after Topeka took that nasty tornado right through the center of the city. My grandfather was Arthur "Scoop"...

Re: Topeka, KS siren system 1966

I want to say the 1000s came first and the 1000ts last. The only reason I say that is because all of the 1000Ts in the county were in newer areas and the 1000s were in older parts of town. The Thunderbolt in downtown is a 1000. Topeka never had a whole lot of 2t22s. There was three in the city. One ...

ACA T-128s in Canada!

Fort Saskatchewan, AB has T-128s apparently. Fort Saskatchewan is located just northeast of Edmonton, Alberta.
