Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

Man, if I'd seen that I would have just asked for permission to use it when I was first compiling the map! Oh well...I can see a few that have been found but aren't on your map, so I'll just keep the challenge going anyway, I guess. ;) That's no problem! I hesitated posting it in the first place be...

Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

Plant Hatch in Georgia is one of the odder nuclear systems out there. Some of you may recall earlier mentions of it...it originally had no siren system at all, instead relying on tone alert radios as its Alert Notification System. Well, nowadays, Hatch has an actual ANS, comprised of 80 Whelen 2909...

Re: Richardson, TX to conduct 3-Minute test of siren system

They have two, one at Breckinridge Park (?) and one at the water plant down the road from a T128 Both of those 2001s have since been replaced with T-128s. The old 2001 at the water plant was replaced a good while ago now, but the one at Breckinridge Park seems to have been a fairly recent replaceme...

Re: Abandoned nuclear power plant with unknown 12 port siren

Where this plant is is what i want to know, and how it still has power. Only reason i would see it would still be powered is to keep the spent fuel pools running cool. And since it's obviously abandoned, i doubt that's the case. Kind of a mystery in and of itself. It's the former Shoreham Nuclear P...

Re: Model 5 Decibels at 1 ft

I can attest to it being quite uncomfortable at even 12 feet away with hearing protection. Mine is quite potent while standing at the back of our lower garage where its controls are mounted; the sound makes everything in there (including my head) vibrate with the sound from it. It's pretty crazy how...

Re: WPS-2790?

There was indeed a WPS-2790 in the original 2700 series lineup, and it also seems that the WPS-2760 didn't make its debut until much later on in the 2700 series timeline. Here is an excerpt from an old brochure that Whelen put out sometime in the '80s that shows the then-current 2700 models, which y...

Re: Jefferson County, AL siren graveyard update

I beg your pardon, but the Chalkville Tbolt was behind the school on a pole. It got removed because somehow the siren got knocked down. There is a post about that on here somewhere if my memory serves me right. Correct. It was mounted on a wood pole toward the backside of the school building and wa...

Re: Bowie TX Sirens

Here's a map of the ones that we know the locations of at the moment, but there are supposedly at least two more somewhere that we weren't able to locate. Their whole system is comprised of Model 2s, usually mounted on the tops of telephone poles and last I knew were also interconnected via leased l...

Re: EOWS Series Reference

2 things. You spelled operational wrong on the 1212. :P Also, I doubt there is 12 drivers on the 812, because it would be strange for 4 of the drivers to have 2 drivers, and 4 to have just 1. I wouldn't doubt that was very well the case with those 812s considering all of the EOWS C/B controllers I'...

Re: Location Of This Federal Signal EOWS 612 Siren In Barrington Illinois

If you're planning on recording one in Barrington, you might consider giving their other 612 a try (pending it's still there) since I don't believe anyone else has made a video of it yet. It's at the south end of Cumnor Avenue near Northwest Hwy/US Hwy 14, behind what appears to be an old fire/EMS s...
