Re: Federal Signal 3t22 in Ellwood City, PA

Ahh yes, the plugged up 3T22 in Ellwood City... whoever remounted it obviously didn't know what they were doing as they set it right on it's intake and blocked up half of it. The siren is for the Ellwood City Fire Department and is activated by the Lawrence County 9-1-1 center

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

It is indeed a Model 5 variant made by Fedalcode, no real good reason why the second louver was omitted but I have see a number of these including one at my old department (which was removed before I started running there). It sounds like your standard Model 5, here is an example from Tremont, Pa.. ...

Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

Here is a Berks County, Pa map I threw together, everything is there except Vinemont which may or may not still have a firehouse.. they have/had a Model 2 but merged into Spring Township Fire Department who has taken down sirens at the other departments. https://drive.google.com/open?id=18D9oiT7F9wI...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Darley 3v8. As for the second chopper? No. That's just an intake. I am not too sure, it is shaped like a 3v8, but where the chopper would be on a 3v8 is big and smooth, not to mention the chopper on this is small and underneath the where the much larger chopper of a 3v8 would be. It matches the loo...

Re: The "Various Sirens" series and others

I should really request access to update the Pa Siren Map, either way here is one that hardly anyone knows about... in Slatington they have a Model 5 at their firehouse (which is noted on the map) but it has not been active for a number of years. The borough decided to replace it since it had covera...

Re: High mounted sirens in the US

I think nathancovey is talking about the Sentry 40V2T (possibly a 40V1T) on top of a tall building (some Jewish center or something if I remember right) in NYC. Dunno what the 10 foot statement means. Here is the Sentry 40V2T in video form, it is indeed mounted on a taller building and appears to h...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Definitely a Sterling 2V8, been by it many times.. it used to be mounted on a building across the street, was moved as seen to the back of the firehouse and is now pole mounted next to the firehouse... Strinestown Fire Department in Pa I believe the siren mentioned is actually a Sterling 3v8, here ...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Funny story here as well, Bainbridge used to have an STH-10... it went belly up after getting hit by lightning and running for 10 minutes creating the magic blue smoke. It was replaced by that Model 2 but they took the head of the STH-10 off and mounted the Model 2 on the intake assembly, that extra...
