Re: Old Hurricane location in Centraila IL

Hey, I recognize that! Yes, that's where it was installed. Funny story, the siren was sold to the city in the spring of 1968. It was installed on roof the local Chevrolet dealer that was on the corner of East McCord and North Elm until the summer of 1973 when it was relocated to its permanent positi...

Re: Darley 3v8 or Vertical Champion?

Yours definitely looks like the larger 5HP version. I had the smaller 2.5HP version and the chopper ports are much smaller than yours.

Re: The official and updated Missouri Statewide map

The Model 5 in Sorento is a 5T. The Fedelcode 5 in Germantown was removed for refurbishing. Albers has three Thunderbolts, two of which came from BVPS. One of which was Shilohs old 1003. They have an inactive Model 5 across the street from Casey's too. It was the towns original storm siren. All of t...

Re: The official and updated Missouri Statewide map

Another update during my travels all over this great state. 1. Northmoor has a 2001-130 that's not part of the Kansas City system. 39.182993869802786, -94.60290704711512 2. Weston's thunderbolts are long gone, replaced by 2001-130s. They're in the same spot that the thunderbolts were. Apparently the...

Re: The official and updated Missouri Statewide map

1.) Queen City's mystery siren is a Darley Champion, though I think it has been removed. 2.) Curryville got a new siren, I don't know what exact type but I do know it will be on the southwest corner of the fire station by the gazebos 3.) The HOR siren in Johnson, NE is actually a Sterling K-5 4.) Be...

Re: Model 2 with evenly spaced shrouds

Like others said above, what you saw is an early Model 2. This design was right after they went away from the Fedelcode housing and long legs. This was the Federal Enterprises era. I have one just like the one you saw. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51444634369_d1f389971e_k.jpg 20210910_163954 ...

Re: The official and updated Missouri Statewide map

A recent development, but the last 1000T from Carbondale is sitting my garage. All of the 2001s have been replaced as well. I didn't get the chance to see their replacement, but my assumption is Whelens.

Re: The official and updated Missouri Statewide map

This is interesting. The tiny town of Trimble has what looks like a custom siren setup. It looks to be two 25 or 50 Watt horns facing either direction. I thought it was lights at first, but there look to be lights on either building ruling that out. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.4720301,-94.564735...
