There is an entirely solar-powered 2001 near Bonfils Blood Center in east Denver. So nice that one can install it anywhere without expense and difficulty of burying or bringing power to it. That's great if you have storms only in the daytime and not on cloudy days (I sense a problem there). They've...

That's a really efficient design. This should answer anyones question of why Thunderbolts are'nt being made anymore sad to say. :( . Does the whole system run on DC(battery) using AC power rectified to DC to charge the batteries? It seems simalar to a cars charging system where an alternator(AC) is...

Yeah, those 2001's must have one hell of a starting draw. But also keep in mind, I can run my 1000 from a wall socket no problem, and those brushes are pretty big. Chopper only? That's 2hp then. The DC motor in a 2001 is 6.5hp Thanks, CJ. Always wanted to know their ratings. 2 hp seems more that wh...

The horn on a 2001 is exponential, look at the profile of the port channels and the curve on the motor cover. Now, I wonder why there are so many brushes on the collector ring. There are a bunch of wires coming together into 2 large ones. Is amperage a big concern? I know it pulls a lot of DC amps....

From where does one derive 240 volts single phase?
from your dryer or electric range socket?
I thought it was 220.
But if our 110 is really 117 phase to neutral, then it is 234 - which is close enough to 240.
Thanks

Re: Model 5/7

...how would this siren perform on 2 legs of 208vac three phase? And would it hurt the motor? Do you mean using two wires (one phase) of a three-phase source? 220 volt motor should be OK on 208 volts - just 12 volts under (5.5% under) Oh, 240 volts. Aren't single phase motors 220 volts? From where ...

What makes me wonder about this siren, is the intake. Given that the sound amount projected is equal in both ports and intake, why didn't they make use of it? I mean they could just add a back horn, couldn't they. My thoughts exactly. I would have created an intake exponential projection cone. But ...

Re: Should we start a list?

I'm not aware of a complete list of sirens and their outputs and frequencies. However, this thread has a list of some of the frequencies of sirens. http://airraidsirens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1523 Does anyone think we should start a thread to try to list all sirens and include: -Manufacturer -M...

"If you are outdoors, you are or should be aware of the weather. The only time a siren is useful is if you are inside and not aware of the weather outside. I disagree. Sirens are not meant to be heard indoors. If you can hear them inside, awesome! But that is not their intention. They are to w...
