Re: 1/87 Scale Hurricane 130.

Rolling Meadows, IL: They had at least three Hurricanes installed in 1971, one of which was ordered with three signals. The city was going to get a grant to pay off half the siren cost if the sirens gave 130 decibels. These sirens only gave 124 decibels on testing which lead to the city filing a su...

Re: Soundmaster Sirens.

Excellent write-up! Soundmaster has been a key interest of mine for many years. Haven't talked to Richard Buggs in ages, though. I wonder if he is still around.

Re: Allertronic RE1600 (dual tone) - Rolling Meadows, IL 07/07/2015

Funny you bring up the Thunderbeam....I went to go record it yesterday! It is actually in Palatine, and is part of their system. It did not go off. I contacted them and they said that siren has been inactive for quite some time. There is a newer 2001-130 about half-mile NW of this one. Last time I h...

Re: Allertronic RE1600 (dual tone) - Rolling Meadows, IL 07/07/2015

Just curious, where are Rolling Meadow's 5 sirens located at? I have 3 mapped: the one you recorded, the T-128 at the Holiday Inn, and the Allertronic at the Heather Ct. and Plum Tree Ln. I'm missing 2. The one by the lift station on Greenwood Ct (the Heather/Plum Tree location) is a RM-130, not an...

Re: Allertronic RE1600 (dual tone) - Rolling Meadows, IL 07/07/2015

It kind of sounds like a 4/5 port thunderbolt siren, but much quieter. I personally think that these sirens look cooler than the whelen 3016. I thought the same thing. Was pretty surprised actually. Expected it to be single tone and sound kinda cheesy like an ATI or something. First time I ever hea...

Re: Whelen sirens in the Chicago suburbs / Chicago Area

Lake Barrington and North Barrington both have systems of 4004's.

In fact, a large number Lake County communities have Whelen systems.
