Re: Federal 2001:DC Graphic in high quality?

Even the newest 2001's have a little 3D aspect to them. The Federal Signal is flat but the FS logo and 2001 have shadows. If you can live with a newer sticker, Federal will probably send you some for free. You can just cut off the pars you don't want.

Congrats on your new siren. The pic of the disk hanging out the truck is pretty funny.

Re: How do you transport large sirens?

Most pickup trucks can get the job done with a little disassembly. I don't have any type of lifting tools at my house (like a shop crane,) so for example when I brought the Defender home, I disassembled it piece by piece in the bed of my truck. I have transported a full thunderbolt disassembled in a...

Re: Whelen Eveacuation voice message

Voice messaging makes good sense in specific applications. In industrial, military, and campus type applications, voice systems are effective because there is usually a very high concentration of sirens in a small area. For community warning, voice doesn’t make great sense and isn’t efficient. Citie...

Re: Electra Tx first Monday siren test.

I watched them load everything, the head, blower box, standpipe, and control boxes in a trailer and haul it away. I was told they were taking it to the city shop. No idea what they are doing with it. I am sure it can be repaired, but they want to move a newer eclipse to the site. If i hear anything...

Awesome information. That 4000-II must have been a beast. Wish they had produced more.

Re: I found a video of a siren buoy!

Those are pretty common, and the “siren” is just an electronic fog horn. They use those on things like bouys, offshore drilling rigs/wells, and lighthouses. These are for the purpose of collision avoidance during low visibility. They can get pretty annoying, as the ones on bouys and unmanned structu...

Re: Two Alabama Counties Silence Siren Systems

It will only take one fatality during a bad storm to get them back. This isn't uncommon. City takes down sirens, people apathetic. Tornado hits city, some people die, other citizens triggered/shooketh/outraged and want a head on a platter, city gets siren system again.
