Re: Is this a bumblebolt?

It could be, but it's also just as likely that it had a chopper assembly swap due to maintenance. I can't tell if it has bars in the horn, but it looks like it might.

Re: Scored A Sentry SS3/Defender

The later Sterling M's had directional rotors. Like I said earlier, this is the exact same rotor/stator assembly many of their sirens use. I am 99% the 3V8 has a directional rotor as well.

Re: Scored A Sentry SS3/Defender

Dennis, all good info. I didn't realize that Lawton had -B Sentries! Thanks for finding those drive gear pics and posting them. I remember them from a few years ago. I think that you may be right about costs of making a dual shaft motor and them switching. They may have also changed motor providers....

Re: Scored A Sentry SS3/Defender

Thankyou Sir! Until now the rotor design has being a mystery to me on these. I see it has 4 centre blades coming out of the centre of the rotor. It almost reminds me of a 10/12 port Federal Signal rotor in a Mobil Directo, Allertor since they also have 4 large blades in the centre. I am still worki...

Awesome Sentry Defender! Just wondering would you please take a photo of the front of the rotor so that the rotor design can be seen?

Nice score!

I am curious though, could R001 possibly mean this is the first one?
Precisely my thoughts. That and the other small differences like running voltage and some of the bolt locations that hold on the housings. Newer Defenders are a little different/more secure looking.

Re: Scored A Sentry SS3/Defender

Forgot to ad a picture of the ID tag. In case you can't read it clearly, it says:

MOT: WIN
NO: R001
PH: *
V: 48DC
A: *
HZ:*
MOD: SS3

I've always liked how they use the the "Sterling Quality Siren" ID tags, even on brand new sirens.

Scored A Sentry SS3/Defender

The unit was from Tuttle, OK and was removed when they upgraded to ASC T-121's. *For those of you who participate on social media, you likely already know about this siren, but you'll notice the siren is looking much better in the pictures below. The siren had sat in a scrap pile for quite some time...

Garland TX Vortex R4+VisuAlert

Here's a video from Garland. They run a couple minutes of Wail for first Wednesday tests. They elected to get VisuAlert add-on for this system, which I think is a huge waste of money, but neat to look at. This unit is at Firewheel Center on the South side of PGBT. They have also installed a 29XX on ...
