Re: B&N 44E Mobil Directo Third Signal Capability?

There once existed a recording of either an Allertor or Banshee doing this "yelp" signal. From what I understand this was accomplished by changing the polarity of the motor leads to electrically "brake" the motor. I don't know how many units were ordered with that capability, but...

Re: any info on this would help

This is a late M. It has the newer stators and housing fittings. That motor is more than likely original to the unit.

Re: Charleston, WV

The only siren I ever recall seeing in Charleston was a 2001 at WVSU. Here is a screen grab from google maps and you can sort of make it out. Surprised I could find it again because it was early in the morning and I barely remember it.

Re: The FC controllers VS the old AR timers

You will still need the RCM panels. These have the motor starters for the siren. They cannot be omitted. The FC would replace the ARCH.

Re: Lightning detection systems

They have gained popularity down here in Texas. The school district that I grew up in went and installed them at every school campus/playground, and outdoor sports facilities. My parents live a couple blocks away from a school and you can clearly hear them go off during storms. It's a little harder ...

Are there any pictures of the yellow 4003's? I don't think I have ever seen one in that system.

Re: SD-10 Wiring

You'll need a wheel puller with Grade 8 bolts to get the rotor off.

Re: St. Louis, Mo. and St. Louis County, Mo. siren history

Interesting history. By the time I came around the Whelens had been in service for several years. I do remember seeing an STL-10 in the downtown area, though. I imagine that is long gone by now.

First guess would be Fort Worth legacy units.

Re: Bristol, TN Sirens in 2018?

Perhaps. It was definitely up, though because I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. There is a Model 7 next to the airport terminal building as well. (KTRI.)
