Re: How to retrieve siren locations...

Great, I don't get up that way very often. Was up there very long time ago. Took my Father to a car show one summerup in Saginaw Co I believe and got to hear a test day on that Saturday. At the time the sirens there were tested that day at 11:45 on Saturday. Seems as I recall there were a lot of ASC...

Re: How to retrieve siren locations...

Sorry if the link doesn't work. Not sure why I can't make it work. Just google "Hazard Mitigation Plan Midland Co MI. and you should be able to find the PDF document. As I wrote above it's on page 65. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Re: How to retrieve siren locations...

What City are you looking at in Michigan? Looking for such info on a City's web site in my experience brings two results. Either there is a lot of good information or hardly any. Keep in mind even in some of the larger cities or county run EMA's the person in charge has other duties besides the EMA ...

Re: Why do you guys hate 2001's so much?!?

When I was a kid (1st grade) the T-bolt went up an my school. At the time I had no idea what it was. I remember seeing the hole in the ground, the pole and the yellow box (blower but didn't know it at the time). A few weeks later the horn on top of the pole, still to young to have a clue. Then came ...

Re: Why do you guys hate 2001's so much?!?

They do the job and are reliable. Never cared for the high pitch but all and all the 2001 is fine by me. I love T-bolts, grew up with them but time has passed them by.

Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

That doesn't look very low to me, but it's definitely rather poorly placed. It's literally ON the playground, haha. I don't know about most kids, but if I were there while young and it went off, I'd probably be traumatized for life. (I hated loud noises as a kid.) Speaking of poorly placed it was a...

Re: New Detroit Siren System Question

Detroit has FS 2001's. Google images of Detroit Fire Stations and you can see the 2001's on top of some of the Fire Stations. As posted above other 2001's are mounted on steel or concrete poles. I too, have heard Detroit also has some Mods, but I have not seen them. Also read somewhere more than a y...

Re: Jackson, MI Thunderbolt 1000T Statewide Tornado Drill 4-16-15

Nice video  A few things about Jackson (my home for 35 years). The tests here are usually in alert. Most tornado warnings here are usually in alert though there has been a couple of times I've heard them sound in attack (I think it depends on who is activating the system). Last fall on test da...

Re: Let's clarify some things. (This is about sirens)

Every community I have lived in (Southern Michigan) the sirens sound for 3 minutes usually as soon as the warning is issued and then no more. If it is a real bad storm (confirmed tornado on the ground) the sirens may sound multiple times but still shutting down after the 3 minute cycle.
