Re: Very First Thunderbolt Ad

It's called a gradual phaseout. Far as I know the C series was the last of the Thunderbolts, since a DC siren design was already in the works when it was introduced.

People would still buy them if they still made them, just from the reputation alone.

Re: Siren info.

If it's three phase it's a high slip motor, and that's their nature to wind up slowly. But I do know that siren has either oilers or grease cups on it, depending on if it's a ball or sleeve bearing motor. They probably haven't been touched in god knows how long. If it's single phase I would be very ...

Re: Evans County Georgia sirens

It's Claxton, not klaxon. Daisy doesn't have any sirens, town is freaking tiny.

Hook it up, see what it does when you throw power to it.

Re: The Sentry 3V8-H-B

Guys I said Sentry sirens, not Sterling sirens. Majority of the Sterling sirens I've seen are so old that I would never go through the trouble of overhauling one and putting it back up. Motor insulation improved greatly in the 50's and 60's, and most sterlings are older than that. Plus Sterlings use...

It doesn't look that bad, make sure the brushes aren't stuck in their holders. There is a link to a place that sells new brushes in the siren parts sticky.

Try not to break a spring either. If you want new ones take one to a motor shop and get them to get you some new ones.

Re: Scottsbluff, Nebraska Thunderbolt siren replacement proposal.

Replace the radios for starters, those old blue boxes tended to drift out of tune over the years, and didn't like temperature fluctuations.

Re: Need help on a 3t22 :3t22:

Ok well be more specific. Post a picture of the brushes and armature so we can see if it's worn down or chewed up. Those old single phase sirens with brushes usually had hard lives.

As far as testing it, hook it up to a 50 amp two pole breaker and turn it on.
