Re: Spring Thunderbolt Painting Project

Anything rustoleum will fade. You can get tractor paint (acrylic enamel) and mix hardner with it and it's alright. I painted a 2t22 and P-15 with Tisco cat yellow and they have started fading, but they were both installed in 08 and 09. To get a decent, durable paint finish you have to step up to an ...

Re: Single phase power to three phase power???

Yeah you will have to get a step transformer to get it up to 460, then put a 32 volt buck boost transformer on it to buck it back down to 428. The big question is how deep are your pockets? I know Ronk electrical and Gentec both make three phase converters that will take 240 single and make it 480 t...

Fulton still refurbishes sirens, and not sure what quality of work problem you are referring to, their work has always been excellent.

That's because the 2001 has been out since the late 80s early 90s. The 508 didn't come out until 2012-2013 I think.

Re: A question about the 2001's or 2001-130's

It's just a model 3 on it's side in a flower pot, that's really turning some RPMs. They are really tough too. The siren heads rarely give trouble. Federal used a good motor in those sirens, most of the older ones had a Warfield, which is fairly high end. Only thing I've seen that can knock one out i...

Re: Manitowoc ACA Allertor 125 Siren test

Sounds like the armature failed. They had problems with some of those sirens blowing out rotor bars. They are aluminum not copper, and will melt at a low temperature. If it had gotten to 2000 degrees the fiberglass would have caught on fire.

It probably froze down one winter.
