I am currently working on intalling siren systems in the towns surrounding me. Tullahoma has had a system of sirens since the 50's during the cold war and we have had our system of 12 Whelen Vortex and several WPS series(at Arnold Air Force Base) sirens in the city since 1999. I am currently working...

Tullahoma got hit pretty hard again as well. We had more wind damage than anything and about ping pong ball size hail. We went under a tornado warning around 1:45 or so and our sirens sounded 5 times. Murfreesboro actually has no siren system of its own this is actually the siren system at MTSU ( Mi...

The city of Murfreesboro has no siren system however, MTSU (Middle Tenn. State University) has a Whelen siren system that covers the campus. Murfreesboro is one of Tennessee fastest growing cities and yet they have always opposed an outdoor siren system. On a side note Whelen Engineering's southeast...

I would bet the siren is a VortexR-2 or so which still has a 70 dB range of a little under a mile. A VortexR-4 would have been the solution for them with 6,000 feet to 70dB and 12,000 to 60dB. The sirens are outdoor warning sirens and you would think someone that is an authority figure in that town ...

There is a video of an Alertronic 6000-R which has no wind-up but does have a wind-down. It is on the Siren Archive. I believe the siren was taken down and replaced with a Hornet. Yes the alertronic in the video was having problems because the alertronic 6000-R did have a wind up. My town had 5 of ...

A mile and a half circle for ATIs is pushing it a little. I think those dead zones are much larger than what they advertised. Thats for sure. The majority of Nashville's sirens are the 4 speaker system which only have an output of around 123 dB which is only good for perhaps 3/4 of a mile to 70 dB ...

-_- You HAVE to be kidding me. Those pieces of scrap on a pole you call a siren wouldn't be as good as this little device. http://www.americansignal.com/products/images/t-135-AC_sm.jpg I was expecting more of a "This... is... ATIIIIIIIII" followed by a high-pitched squeal and the distinct...

I remember watching on storm stories or something similar several years ago that the day downtown Nashville was hit in April 1998, Whelen representatives were in town that day demonstrating and providing information on Whelen outdoor warning systems. You are quite right about the terrain in Davidson...
