Re: Air Raid Sirens seen on "Emergency!" and "Adam-12"

The SD-10 on "Emergency!" was luck on my part because it wasn't very noticeable. I almost missed it, that's how subtle it was. But when I saw it in the background, I instantly knew what it was. On the other hand, the SD-10 on "Adam-12" was as plain as the nose on your face! It wa...

Re: St. Louis area siren enthusiasts: O'Fallon, Mo's new sir

I read in the newspaper a few years ago that the hilly terrain in Jefferson County is the reason why there isn't a county-wide siren system. It's a shame, because look at the High Ridge area and how densely populated it is; there definately should be sirens out that way. Right now, as you know, only...

Air Raid Sirens seen on "Emergency!" and "Adam-12"

While watching various episodes of both shows, I've seen Federal SD-10s on both of them. It's not every episode, only once in awhile, but if you watch closely, you'll see them. Just the other day I was watching "Adam-12", and they showed Adam-12 driving along a main street and there was a ...

Re: St. Louis area siren enthusiasts: O'Fallon, Mo's new sir

Nice to "meet" you, metalstorm! Yeah, unfortunately, you're in a siren-free zone in that area, unless you travel to Arnold for their boring ATI's. I know that some other municipalities in Jeffco have their own siren systems, like Festus and Herculaneum. I remember when Crystal City had (or...

No, whelen2900, the rest of the sirens have not been replaced yet. Only 3 out of 12 have. This is a process that will take 4 years to complete.

2014 Missouri State Wide Tornado Drill

Tuesday, March 4th, around 1:30 PM.

Hard to believe it's that time of year again. Before we know it, severe weather will be knocking on the door.

Sirenless Kokomo, Indiana got lucky yesterday

I can't believe that a city of 52,000-plus that is prone to tornadoes has no siren system! Kokomo got lucky yesterday in that there were no deaths or serious injuries due to the tornado. I read online that the city opted last year to buy 3,000 weather radios through Best Buy for its citizens instead...

Re: St. Peters, Mo. now has one less Thunderbeam

St. Peters now has seven 2001s in place, at least that I know of. I say seven but the official City of St. Peters website states that they have a system of fourteen sirens, but I only know of twelve. So there may be two more 2001s that I don't know about. I've lived in this county for twenty two yea...

Re: St. Peters, Mo. now has one less Thunderbeam

I found out that the siren failed to activate for the July monthly test and it was determined that it was struck by lightning in a June thuderstorm. So that 2001 must've been installed in the last few weeks. Pretty good service from Federal to have a 2001 in stock to be delivered that soon. I don't ...

St. Peters, Mo. now has one less Thunderbeam

I was out and about yesterday and noticed that the Thunderbeam on McMenamy Road behind the Barnes and Noble (close to Mid Rivers Mall) has been replaced by a 2001. I did some driving around, wondering if any of their other old sirens had been replaced, but the 2001 was the only new one. The two othe...
