I've sent letters to the state, county, city and school district about them in the past and have had no replies. I've sent out an email and am awaiting a reply.

HOR Super Sirex Removed, Scottsdale, AZ

The HOR Siren at Navajo Elementary School has apparently been removed. I drove by today and it was clearly missing...it was there two days ago so this is fairly recent. The one at Tonalea is still there and the one at the Motorola Plant I haven't checked on yet.

It's located next to a building on the north side of campus. If you're on google earth/maps, go to 3500 E. Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018. You should see a softball diamond. To the west of the diamond is a basketball court, and to the west of the court should be 2 modular buildings facing east-west....

I had to stand in someone's front yard to take it. It hasn't been activated in a while, but when I looked at it ...

Sirens Across Arizona

I drove across the state of Arizona today, from Flagstaff through Sedona through Payson and into Phoenix. I had previously thought this state to be siren-free. I was dead wrong. As I saw, there are 3 Whelen Vortex sirens mounted in Oak Creek Canyon on fire stations. They are used to evacuate the can...

In sedona, they have whelens on top of all the fire stations in Oak Creek Canyon. They also have whelens in Payson, Pine, and Flagstaff. They're used for wildfires. Never head them activate, but during the Brins fire in 2006 they showed one of them on the news sounding attack. On a related note, I h...

Yeah, I sent the letter to warren leek. Technically, if the sirens are abandoned, we could probably just walk on and remove them (with scottsdale school district permission, since they're on their property).

I found a third one! It's the same as the Tonalea and Navajo sirens and is located at the old Motorola plant on McDowell and Granite Reef.

I live down the street from the Tonalea siren. I remember them testing it as recently as 1996 (I was born in 1989 and remember the tests as part of my early childhood). I also wrote a letter to the Maricopa County emergency manager, Arizona emergency manager, and the superintendent of the scottsdale...
