Solar AND AC?

So, the FS 2001s ARE connected to AC? (AC charging batteries) That ruins my idealism that they can beasily placed anywhere. For the most sound output per amp, would it be better to uses electronic sirens? I know, this is blasphemy, but that is quite a draw from batteries, which would take a long tim...

No American Imperialist Spies Allowed! - Yantai siren test

I am informed that I will probably not be allowed anywhere near the Yantai siren when they perform their annual air raid siren test, now said to be at 08:15, Tuesday 8-15-2006. So my wife, a Chinese citizen, will try to get photographs with her digital camera. She will wear her earplugs provided by ...

Thank you Elliot. Yes, I should have known. I saw a Denver FS 2001 which has a nice solar cell panel. Can they be entirely solar powered? I could not see any wires coming up it's pole from the ground, except for a lightning ground wire (I presume.) I like the idea of solar power so thathe pole can b...

Thanks Jim. I've never heard a growl. On the TBolt, do they also operate the air compressor along with spinning the rotor? Does one produce their own growl test by turning on the siren for just a second and turning power off? Or is it a built-in function in the controller circuitry? Are there DC air...

"Growl" test?

I presume a growl test is spinning the rotor at low RPM to produce
very low sound output.
How is a growl test accomplished?
Can one be done on a 3-phase motor of a 2t22?

Thank you,

Siren in Yantai, China - annual test 8-15-2006, 8 a.m.

I am in Yantai, China with my wife who is visiting her parents. August 15 just happens to be Yantai's annual air raid siren test! The siren is on a hilltop park (highest point) in almost the middle of town. It is kept underground in what appears to be a very old bunker which is covered with soil and...
