Re: Reedsburg's 500 not working

Any pictures of the 130 installation?
No photos since they chose a random day to put it up. They wanted it installed in time for tornado season.

Re: Vintage siren photos thread

A 3 horsepower New Red Arrow being unpacked on December 25th, 1941 in the city of Seattle, Washington. This siren was built by the Decot Engineering Works of St. Paul, MN. Seattle had 9 of these 3 horsepower sirens and a large 10 horsepower Red Arrow which were bought alongside a slew of Federal Mod...

Re: Old Screamer

The DS-1 is just a foundry casting number. Many mass-produced siren castings wield numbers which bear no relevance to anything besides parts categorization and perhaps cataloging at the foundry they were cast at. ACA did not always produce their own castings so the numbering is not consistent. The 8...

Re: The Mystery Is Revealed: Scream-Master Sirens.

According to the 1954 Federal Civil Defense Administration manual, Scream-Master touted a 20 horsepower 125 decibel rotating siren however I've never been able to track down any further information on this siren. I'm very surprised the dual headed 500 would be tied to Scream-Master since every othe...

The Farmland, IN siren: http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/ww19/fedsigtbolt/farmlandfedelcode_zps386b3a56.jpg I don't have the photos of it after it smashed but its innards looked identical to this siren: http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a466/VirginiaSirens/Pennsylvania%20Road%20Trip%207/P1030098...

Re: Model 20 Question

That particular advertisement came from eBay. I don't recall how much it cost but it was fairly cheap despite being such a rare piece. I've only seen one other copy of it and that was back in 2008. There was another advertisement mentioned or posted on the old pre-2006 forum but I cannot find it.

Re: Model 20 Question

The Model 20 could not have lasted very long as it is no longer mentioned by 1942.

Re: Model 20 Question

The only Model 20 I have reference to looks more like an oversized Model 5. The dual head Fedelcode was introduced in 1929 but nothing I have on hand suggests it was 20 horsepower. Its design changed over the years with the later 1950s version being dual tone 9-12. A recording of a 9-12 dual head Fe...

Re: Denver Siren Found in Highland, NY

Denver sirens are very rare despite once being a common sight across America. They were among the very first outdoor warning sirens ever made. Denver sirens were made by the Hendrie & Bolthoff Manufacturing & Supply Company of Denver, CO. The patent (US 1278582) is attributed to William A. B...
