Re: ATI sirens really are crap!

Welcome back Sam! I remember you from years ago. I have heard the ATI's in SF myself. I was in the Tenderloin and I believe the nearest siren was Union Square. I could barely hear the siren tone and could not hear the voice at all.

Re: Is there a specific advantage of rotational sirens over omnidirectional sirens?

Basic answer is power. It takes a considerable amount of power to project sound in all directions. Which is why a 40v2t has a 40 horsepower motor, and a 2001 has a 6.5 horsepower motor. Yet both are similar in sound output. So to have an efficient battery backup siren, less is more. Same with the ec...

What are they installing? A lot of times siren removal is included in the contract, then the installing company reimburses them the scrap value.

In Orange County, Huntington Beach has a system of T-128's. There is one at each fire station.

Re: An Evening in Plainfield 5/23/2018

Pretty sure those P-50's are Joliets. They switched everything over to FS a few years ago. That's why they have been installing 2001's. Seems like the only ACA sirens they kept were the P-50's and the RM-130 at Woodruff Golf course.

Re: Chicago Midway Airport jailbar gone.

The city hasn't used it since the 80s. There was a board member who worked there at one point who set it off a couple times.

Chicago Midway Airport jailbar gone.

I drive by midway airport on my way to work every day. Today I saw that they are razing the building the tbolt is on. The roof and second floor are gone, so the siren is destroyed. Didn't get a great look as I was in shock half the building was gone. It looked fine last night. Only odd thing is thea...

Re: What are the decibel ratings of ASC E-Class sirens?

Our E-classes are pretty decent, then again they play a recording of a Tempest over them. I'm sure that plays into it.
