Nice acquisition! In the video you say you got it for free- you're one lucky person.

Re: The Inventor of Sirens

Usually we don't think of that kind of stuff. We only really involve ourselves with the sirens made about 1900-onward, since those are the "sirens" we are all familiar with today. Kinda like how the car enthusiast community is primarily involved with cars made during and after the Model T ...

Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

That Thunderbolt just goes to show that they look small way up on a pole, but they're huge closer to the ground.

Re: Killbuck, OH Receives Siren Replacement

Why would they care how much the siren weighs??? It's Killbuck. I haven't got a clue why they care more about the weight rather than the sound. Lighter weight means a smaller crane if they need to take it down for extreme maintenance? A smaller crane to put it up? Less guys to shuffle it around? I ...

Re: Fantasy Siren Map Challenges!

My entry. The following placement of sirens and siren choice would cost the county around $300,000 total (pretty cheap for a county-wide system) and adequately cover a majority of the population. All of the sirens are made by American Outdoor Notification Systems (AONS) Signal usage. Severe Thunders...

Re: Uniquely Iowa

That's an ACA Penetrator, not a Howler. The Howlers have a shorter, cube-ish rear. On the other hand, nice finds! Not every day you see a little Champion.

Re: New Acquisition: B-series Thunderbolt

The Model 2 motor is a different chopper assembly, it did not come out of the B-series. I no longer own that motor.

Also, B-series doesn't mean British series. It's a letter symbolizing which iteration of the Thunderbolt it is.

Re: 2001 Siren Series Differences?

The Equinox was the bridge from the 2001 to the 508- the 508's prototype, if you will. A customer wanted a lower-pitched version of the 2001, and they came up with the Equinox to fill the bid. Through a long series of steps, the Equinox led to the 508. Now, it's a cheaper alternative to the 508 for ...

Re: Sick sirens!

TommyBNSF, I'll have to correct you on the West Side 3T22. The motor has not burned up, it's that its radio is no longer functioning properly.

On the other hand, I just realized every 3T22 in Clyde has some significant issue. You'd be surprised for the reason the Downtown 3T22 was replaced...

Re: Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T ~ Orrville OH

Its blower is definitely not doing anything. On the other hand, this is probably the shortest "full" test of a siren I've seen yet.
