I used to live near Pitts park for about a year in 1990, before I moved to Smyrna w/ the family in '91. I always thought that hill @ the park would be a good spot for a siren.

I no longer live in Calhan, however, I know the town is not going to be scrapping their 550 anytime soon. They will likely maintain it for the foreseeable future. Aside from a knackered up paint job, the siren works just fine.

The AR timer supplies power to the coil of the motor starter. there will be a terminal pair that supplies power, and the contactor gets fed power, with the other coil terminal wired to neutral. If it were a 240V coil instead, the coil gets wired across the 2 terminals that feed the power, just as if...

I'm (as are many of us) eagerly awaiting videos in the upcoming months. These new sirens look to be just the equipment that Nashville needs, as ATI's model HPSS-16/32s have largely let my hometown down. And that said, Nashville never utilized the voice features; upgrading to tone-only gear just made...

Can someone PLEASE get ahold of an ATI box.. Just so we can see how crappy/nice the insides are? I'm glad to see the dead spots getting filled, and the sirens being upgraded to sirens that actually sound like sirens.

I would put all the 550ATs, and Mobile-Directos that we had from 1959-1989 back in my city, in parks/greenways. Would only take 30 or so to cover the entire metro area, from Monument down to Fountain... Put Manitou's 550 back, and dot the three mountain towns going up Ute Pass. Another 15 or so to c...

I do love how the reporter seems to have been expecting the siren to be much louder than it really was. The 550AT is indeed MUCH louder in person than some electronic siren, even if they produced the same tone. I've stood under the one in Calhan when it was going off in 2009 and it's assault on you...

But... Can they make a model, in which the entire siren is able to rotate like a 550 would?
