Hmm nice, If I had the property I would try to get one. I already have to much junk sitting around my 1/8 of an acre lot.

Fyr-Fyter's only came in 4 horn variants. They may have stacked two on top of each other. But that would mean 2 separate controls and wouldn't harmonize.

Fyr-Fyter also known as G&S fire extinguishing chemicals, and later Crouch Fire & safety products. Was established in 1916 by John T. Crouch, and was one of the first manufacturers of fire extinguishers and chemicals. There plant was shared with another company, the quarters were to crowded ...

Around here all the Thunderbolts have the blowers and controls about half way up the pole. There's a Tbolt 25 miles west of here in Peru that has the blower on the ground inside a green cabinet that's about 3 times the size of the blower, there's no controls on the pole so I'm assuming they must be...

That doesn't look accurate to me either... Fire station on Blue Rock - built in the early 80s (Engine Company 20 and Ladder Company 5 moved there in 1982 according to cfdhistory.com) Macy's (Lazarus) store at Tri-County Mall - according to Wikipedia, this store didn't open until 1960 (groundbreakin...

It's siren #25, but as you can see, a majority of the Thunderbolts were installed in 1950. How do you know that's accurate? When that list was put together that date could have come from someone in the office just guesstimating the date those were installed. I don't know, I guess I am the kind of p...

I've heard that, those sirens have a magnet on the chopper and one on the stator, so it always is shut when power is off. Is that right?
Seems like if there was a magnet it would make the chopper un-balanced.

I'm not trying to make a ton of money or anything like that, I just want to see Thunderbolts that work properly and look nice.. And I don't install irrigation systems to make money, I install them so the lawn is green. There simply isn't enough of a demand for thunderbolt parts. If one break...

Re: PLYMOUTH, MICHIGAN to remove all THUNDERBOLTS

Can anyone confirm this for me? Where do they actually "set off" the sirens, perhaps I could find out for sure. Im just a little nervous that I may have missed the last sounding and want to record that 1000T in attack as well. Any info appreciated! Newer sirens are generally set off from ...

Well the knockdown drag-out fight over the Whirlwind continues. The EMA director, local fire chief, and I finally managed to convince our boneheaded city council that the old siren is not reliable and should not be placed back in service due to the severe rotor damage. I managed to convince them in...
