Well, some firefighters showed up last night to do the yearly test of the hydrant fed by my pond, and I took the opportunity to ask some of the lieutenants about the town siren system. The first one I spoke to didn't have much to say, but the second did tell me a few interesting things. One is that ...

I was in Durham, CT this morning and I am happy to report that they have a siren. However, it is unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view such things) one of those old Whelens that just consists of four sets of several speakers...a WS-2000, maybe? My fellow CT siren expert 3t22 woul...

I would like to announce the following:

Simsbury, CT no longer seems to have a daily noon test/noon whistle. For 2-3 days in a row, I have gone outside with my camera to get a video of the noon whistle I assumed would happen, and nothing happened. This is a very disappointing development.

I have been to Glean Rock but that was before I got into sirens. So I have no clue. If im up there I will look for some Ok, thanks. Also, seems like New Jersey is Model 5 country...a fact that wouldn't really matter except if someone in the siren community ever asks what your state is known for, th...

Either the first or the 4th. The first is pretty easy to see from the highway Definitely the first one you showed. Well, I've got another question, which may be kind of ridiculous since I'm not looking at a NJ map right now, but...have you ever been to Glen Rock? Are you aware of any sirens in that...

Brandeis University (Waltham, MA) has 3 or so of your average 4-speaker ATI. Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, NY) has a 3-cell Whelen omni of some sort on top of the library. The University of Connecticut has a multitude of 4-speaker ASC E-Class sirens on its main campus (Storrs, CT), which repla...
