I'm able on a good day to pick up: Definitely: Woodbury(Syosset??) and Commack Maybe: Cold Spring Harbor, East Northport, Huntington Village and Halesite Debatable: Greenlawn BTW: I remember many times hearing a rather distant cluster of sirens (3 or 4) going off at once (apropos of Dave Fritz's que...

In my case, I live in what's called the Huntington Manor Fire District. (Why I dunno considering the real name of my town in my profile). There used to be 2 Sterling M's here. (Parenthetically, now there's only one at the HQ. The other two substations--the original HQ where the other M was and a rel...

I'd like to comment on a thing or two here with kid gloves, since I really don't want a dog in this fight. It's not for me to accuse or suggest right or wrong with respect to whether the person discussed here has acted in any fradulent way towards others on this board. My inclination is to offer ben...

And the dog in your front yard was most cooperative when told to "Shut it!".

Given those options, the one I questioned (i.e. had a c-sharp tone to it and a quick spin-down) might be one of your T-Bolts. I rule out a 2T22 because it didn't sound dual-toned and its downspin is very slow. Incidentally, I heard the other of your county test vids, and that one, as the one here, f...

Very sweet. The combined spin-downs of the sirens farther off almost sounded melodic. Do you know whether the last one to wind down is a Model 2? Initially I thought it to be one of those higher-pitched T-128's; but IIRC after looking at a map of your county, you don't have those(???) Gonna listen o...

Not to steer things too far afield; but Roslyn is maybe three villages over to the west. But as I suggested, maybe the startup is time with the rest of the system. The only other thing I can think of is that there's a different kind of motor inside. The mechanical geniuses here can help me with this...

The windup there sounds awfully fast for a 5. Initially I was thinking this to be a 3...maybe (since it IIRC has a faster startup). Then again, could it be that the district's siren start-ups could be timed to match each other? I do know that Jericho has at least one SD-10, whose wind up is generall...
