Re: Are there any HOR or Sterling sirens in Michigan?

I took this picture of the Springport siren a few years ago.

Re: Sirens in Michigan

RE: Marshall. The T-bolt is downtown behind Fire Station. The only XT22 I can recall was Near McDonalds on the West City Limits and it was replaced with a 2001. The used to be a T-bolt out by the Truck Stop on 94 which was also replaced by a 2001. Another T-bolt (might have been replaced) could be s...

Re: Do fire stations regularly test their sirens?

It's been my experience that Fire Departments that use a siren for calls often do the Noon siren cycle that winds up an peaks one time then winds down. It let's the FD know the siren works daily except Sunday as not to disturb the Church services.

Re: Throwback! Gering, Nebraska Thunderbolt 1003

IMO, part of the problem is the "yearly test". That is 364 days of sitting idle. It is like starting a car up for 3 minutes a year and expecting it to run like new.

Look at the smile the man in the suit has. He has to be thinking can't wait to set this monster off.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

At first I thought vent pipe also. However look close at the base. The base appears to be a vented stand. A vent pipe IMO would be a sealed pipe coming out of the ground. Also to the immediate right on the sidewalk is a cover for underground electric service. Interesting mystery.

Re: Thunderbolt 1000T Lansing, Michigan

Two Thunderbolts that came down that I am aware of were the State Journal Building and the other at Central Fire Station (when roof was redone) . Lansing put up a Thunderbolt at the new Fire Station on Miller Rd a few years ago. That might be where one of the missing went. The other one is probably ...

Re: Thunderbolt 1000T Lansing, Michigan

Lansing Twp. Thunderbolts are/were as old as the ones in the City of Lansing. As I recall Lansing Twp. had two T-bolts one on the W. Michigan Fire Station and the other was at the Township Fire Station on the NE side of Lansing. Lansing Twp. is a kind of a strange set up with Islands of Township div...
