That's cool that they took the time to clean those old dogs up and repaint them. At least someone there has an appreciation for the things. Looks like they did a really nice job on the sheetmetal. Wonder what happened to the pieces that cover the siren on the SD-10. With good paint on them it would ...

Here's the second reply I got from the company that makes the musical sirens... The musical Siren comes from the alert siren and is determined by 2 principals : -The tone chages are due to increases and decreases of the turbine rotation speed, each note corresponding to a precise speed. -Both the so...

After looking over the Mecaniqe Vivante site I had the wild off the wall idea to e-mail them and ask them if the sirens were mechanical or electronic. Here's the reply I got.... Dear Eric, We are glad you show interest in our creations. To answer you question, the Sirens you listen are real mechanic...

The show is called Song Of The Sirens. I can't tell if they are mechanical or not. I searched Trafalgar Festival and came up with this. http://www.london.gov.uk/trafalgarsquare/tsf/tsf06/slideshowweek1/sld009.jsp I then searched "M?canique Vivante" and came up with this.... http://perso.or...

What were the purposes of the 500T(aside from the usual weather and air raid warnings)? The same as any other outdoor warning siren. The Thunderbolt blower doesn't need "regular oil changes." The Thunderbolt and 500 use the same rotator gear reducer box. That's the leakiest thing I have f...

Here are 3 pics of it from March of 2005 and one from 2004. Doesn't look like it's become a "rusted piece of metal" to me. It was moved because of a new building that was built on the site. It was just moved to the other side of the parking lot by the stadium. The new building blocks about...

Old Pics Of A New Thunderbolt And New Pics Of The Same Siren

I was digging through some old pics today and found these again. I might have posted them on the board before a couple of years ago. The date on the back of these pics is Feb 1980. The siren is at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas. It's still there today though it was moved a few hundered feet fr...

No I can not at this time run the roots and put the horn on as It would Blow WINDOWS out at my apartment building I live in. I am looking for a place to set it off with eveything attached. Keep in mind that it's going to sound like grunt without the horn on it. It won't "blow the windows out&q...

Yes, I don't get how it avoids wave cancellation either.
Why would the waves cancel? Doesn't the air pulse out of all the ports
of the stator at the same time. Wouldn't pulses have to be out
of phase to cancel the pulses coming out of the stator?
