This particular unit that has been having issues (pictured below) was relocated back in 2006 ( due to it being in a railroad right of way) and refurbished, so it's a shame to see it malfunctioning. It has been repaired and is ready for the severe weather season. The old Police Chief oversaw the refu...
According to the emergency management director, he's wanting to apply for a Hazard Mitigation Fund to replace one Thunderbolt that has failed to sound the past 2 years for the YEARLY test, but they fix it and it works fine. He told me the reason it failed to sound this year was because of a blown fu...
All of the Thunderbolts in the area were installed like this. Here are few more examples from Scottsbluff and Morrill. I like the way they were installed, unique for sure. Such a shame they're getting replaced soon. The new emergency manager thinks just because they malfunctioned a couple of times t...
Good morning, just wanted to share a neat picture that was shared with me. I was pleased to find one of Gering's old 1003's in the background of this picture of Geil Elementary. Gering's original system comprised of 3 1003 Tbolts. They were installed in the late 70's and replaced in 2002 with Federa...
The only justification he is has to replace them is they've malfunctioned a couple times in the past. One or two have turned on by themselves but that was over 13 years ago. They're very reliable but I'm sure the city doesn't maintain them like they're suppose to. I think it would be a better idea t...
Good morning all, thought I would share this neat find, a proposal created by the Nebraska Region 22 emergency management director to replace the 4 Thunderbolt sirens our city currently has and surprisingly a proposal to replace a Federal 2001 installed in 2008. From the looks of it he is advocating...
I think the double pole mount is a better set up with area with high winds. I know it's a lot of wood and material for a Thunderbolt to double pole mount it but I like that style better.
All materials could be reused, like the blower platform and such, all we would really need is one new pole. The utility company went out and inspected the sign and informed me that even though the pole is warped, it still can handle the load of the siren. I believe this Thunderbolt along with the ot...
It's not, but I don't see the issue in having it mounted the way it is, it's lasted since the early 80's. I like the way it's mounted, deters vandalism having the blower up therd
