A few days ago I saw a brand new Q2B siren mounted on the bumper of a fire truck which was pulled out for repairs. The rotor was easily eight inches in diameter, bigger than my head! Didn't think they were quite that big, but then they do have a 2hp motor turning them.

It's most likely the motor starter.

That is the only siren in that entire town. I would have put up two of those.

A friend of mine has a Benjamin horn like that which had never been used until recently when I plugged it in.

You should be able to do it; the rotor and the bearings are the same dimensions and they should drop right in.
