You could also use a screw blower, like what IHI or Lysholm makes but you'd have to change the drive ratio because they put out almost twice the amount of air volume and pressure as a Roots blower of the same size.

I wouldn't want to have a 50hp siren unless I lived in the middle of nowhere. Powering one would be interesting, though.

Yup, those are all old H.O.R. sirens. NYC has no sirens, (there is a 40V2T on a synagogue though) though there are a few forgotten sirens still waitng to be found. Isn't that the same "synagogue siren" I read about on the old board which sounds every time they have a service? I think it's...
