Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Lol if water reaches the siren head then I think we'd have bigger problems to worry about than damage to the siren...

Columbia, MO Statewide Tornado Drill

Finally had the chance to record a siren test in Columbia... Usually, I'm in class when they test, but the Missouri statewide tornado drill actually fit into my schedule. It was pretty loud- I had three 2001's (SRNB/1-130) within half a mile of me. Boone County used to have a system of mostly XT22's...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Maybe since spring is a month away they decided to risk it? I'm in Columbia MO for college now and they've got 2001's around here- they certainly don't pack the same punch as T-128's!

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Not at all- it was 37 according to my outdoor weather station. They are safe to operate above freezing, right? Also, this is my recording of Clermont's ambiance today: https://youtu.be/tlyzchN6b-4

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I recorded it in 2016, haven't heard it since... It's been stuck in the same position for a couple of years now, so don't know if it's turned off or if the rotator is just broken. Really don't know why Hamilton canceled- it was above freezing and we haven't had any ice or rain or snow. It was a grea...

Hamilton / Clermont Ohio Siren Ambiance

Took this ambiance recording from my backyard near the Hamilton / Clermont County line in Southwestern Ohio. T-128's belong to Hamilton County, and the Thunderbolts, ACA P-15, and Werden P-127 belong to Clermont. I was really surprised that I could hear the P-127, considering that it's 4 miles away ...

Re: “Twin” Siren Setups

Quote was messed up for some reason 2T22 is louder being dual tone and having horns. I've also seen sirens for nuclear plants and storm sirens next to each other, but I can't think of any examples. I'm going to have to correct you. It's actually proven that single tone sirens are louder than dual t...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

That's really neat! I've heard of some larger municipalities incorporating the National Weather Service polygon technology into their systems, so it's exciting to see that happen here. Still, I've wondered how exactly that works... ie. will sirens that are strictly in the polygon go off or will sire...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I thought I missed it at first... they started two minutes late, usually it's right at noon.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I was driving down Beechmont Ave. today and just so happened to go by the Anderson Fire Station #5 at noon. I really wanted to see if the thunderbolt is deactivated now or if just the rotator is broken, but neither the thunderbolt or T-128 were going off... I could hear distant T-128's (probably 8 m...
