Re: Washington, D.C. Sirens?

Supposedly they had all or mostly all t-bolts at one time, and slowly replaced t-bolts as they wore out with Allertors...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Is the service disconnect switch padlocked? With lazy EMA's pending full installations (whenever the power is the only thing holding things back) it's so tempting to take a 2x4 and push the switch to "ON"

Re: Minneapolis/St. Paul Area Sirens

Yeah, that's Plymouth's only roundback (as far as I know...I don't drive around the northeast part of town much at all). It's on a tall, brown steel pole for whatever reason (the rest of our 2001's are on wooden poles). Wayzata, MN (the suburb bordering Plymouth on the southwest side) has a 2001 rou...

Re: Minneapolis/St. Paul Area Sirens

Plymouth---(my hometown :D ) (used to have (2) Soundmasters (not sure which model), one ACA Allertor, and (4) Thunderbeams)---still have all four Thunderbeams, but the Allertor and Soundmasters have been replaced with 2001's. They city has grown considerably over the years, and they've installed ad...

Re: Hall County Siren #40

Yeah, being on axis with the siren makes quite a bit of difference, but that's definitely disappointing. I recorded a 2001-SRN in my city from exactly 100 feet from the edge of the pole and measured it...102 dB(C). Ouch. I'll have to try measuring some different sirens off axis with it to see how th...

Re: Minneapolis/St. Paul Area Sirens

CITIES: Yes, St. Paul has had their 2001-130's for just over a year. The Thunderbolts roared for their last time late last spring (2012, monthly test). I haven't heard much about how they're working (reliability), but I would imagine things are going fine. They got a HUGE grant from FEMA, which I th...

Did they end up replacing all of the older sirens? I was under the impression that just the t-bolts were getting the boot...

Those brushes...ouch!

It's nice that it is less drastic of a problem than you originally anticipated, anyway.

Good luck!

I'm sure St. Paul, MN has quite a few, as their system (until April 2012, when it was replaced with 2001-130's), was mostly t-bolt 1000's along with a few STH-10's and Model 5's installed in the early 50's.
