Robert, have you thought of severe weather days? What if it's a severe weather day or raining when your timer goes into action and sounds the siren. Could produce a false warning that way. I think it should either be maned or use a remote DTMF decoder hooked to an answering machine. That way when th...

Robert, you crack me up. I can see your firehouse with a 2t22 mounted to the top with ducktape only displaying half the horns, powered by used cloth wrapped wire, timed by a cell phone with a relay electrical taped to the back. You're like MacGiver!

Ya. I'd say cost. The directional sirens are cheaper. Less drivers to produce the db's at a distance due to the directional design.

I like the omnidirectional speakers though because the sound is a constant. You don't get the "now you hear it now you don't" at great distances.

They should go after the department or city for not making rules that require hearing protection. When I was a conductor it was required by rule to wear ear plugs provided by the company to protect from the train horn and engine noise. They did not reduce the sound output of the horns. They are, how...

Our's was a 3 chime train horn! You got a whimpy little buzzer if you were the home team. But man, what a rush hearing that train horn echo through the seats!

Forced air intake for a Q siren.

Has anyone ever forced air in the Q to see if it's louder? I was washing my Jeep the other day and spun up the Q with the hose. While sounding I shot some pressurized water in the intake and was supprised to hear the volume increase. Is it safe to make a forced air/blower intake for the Q similar to...

I get so sick of these stupid lawsuits. What a stupid thing to sue for. ALL sirens are sold with instruction booklets that warn of possible hearing damage. The department should have protected the firemen from exposure. Or better yet, the firemen should have protected themselvs from exposure when th...

Failure is something I would be worried about. Apparently not Ft Worth, Tx. I saw a T-Bolt, not in use any longer :( , that has a phase converter hooked to it. Kind of odd. It was in an industrial park too. You can't tell me they didn't have 3 phase power in an industrial area!

What about a huge expensive inline resistor bank to dam up the current available for the motor on start-up?
