I hate to break it but Whelen is not even a siren .. It's an amplified speaker.. a siren is an airaphone which is what a rotor and stator are comprised of.

Most people agree that the Thunderbolt is the best siren. It is!. Not really! Seems like only the people in this forum are t-bolt crazy.. It was actually Federals least selling siren. The Type 2,3,5,7 and SD10's were more dominant in the 1950's and 60's and the most popular selling. I have heard ma...

They went and tore down most of them for those piece of crap Whelen speakers over the last 15 years... I have been in Columbus 1,000 times for the Noon test 1 Wed a month. and during tornado...

The Code in FEDELCODE could have to do with a "code" of some sort.. However, I never saw a Fedelcode siren with breaks or rotor dampers yet.. I did see a Code Damper on a 1960 Federal 7 HP but this is after the Fedelcode era..

you dont want a lite rotor!! You want cast iron or heavy Aluminum..... Just paint it and it wont rust....
That's what's so classic about the 3, 5 , 7 and 10 horsepower Federals is their nice smooth and sometimes long wind down. the model 2's suck as the rotor is not heavy enough for a long coast..

It takes about 5 mintues for this rotor to come to a complete stop. .. This siren was purchased around 1950 by the fire department. This is ...
