Re: Confirming the existence of the ACA Allertronic 5000

The Alertronic in Rhinelander was kept in storage upon removal until it was scrapped in 2011. As interesting as many of ACA's sirens were, some of them just didn't last very long in service. Sometimes I wonder how many oddball sirens we missed out on because they were removed before the community no...

Re: Some siren questions

I have never seen any listing mentioning a Penetrator with a damper valve, so this is a first for me. I was referring to the 10, 15, and 50 HP models in my initial post. The Yelp signal did not use a valve, instead it was achieved through reversing the special motor's polarity through the control bo...

Re: Some siren questions

The Allertor was available as a 12 port siren but no one has ever come across an example in the wild. Screamers and Allertors could do the Yelp signal if they were ordered specially. Mason City, Iowa had a 10-12 port Banshee installed in 1969 along with some Allertors. It is long gone. Some of the o...

Re: Confirming the existence of the ACA Allertronic 5000

A while back I built a test model of the Alertronic 5000 to see how it fared for balance. It was hard work making it to scale. ACA would have benefit from a model makers' department to test out their more ungainly designs before they went into full-scale production. The primary problem is the horns ...

Re: Information on the ACA Banshee

That one is not a 10-12 port Banshee. It is a 1980s-1990s Banshee which only came in 9-12 or 8 port. I do not think any 10-12 port Banshees still exist.

Re: Federal Signal STH-C

An interesting find! I've never seen an STH-10 with a damper before. This could not have been a long lived variation of the STH-10 as it's never mentioned in the mass of catalogs and advertisements.

Re: 1/87 scale 3T22 from Ralph Ratcliffe Models

Ralph still makes the siren kits, you just have to tell him which one. They are well priced and make for good models so long as one is careful with assembly and painting.

Re: Federal Signal STH-C

No. In fact I've never seen any literature referring to such a siren.

I'm surprised they managed to fix it. Let's see how long it lasts this time.

Re: Secomak Type 447 - Help Please

Here is a website that goes into some detail about the Type 447, along with other sirens of the period. http://www.geocities.ws/foxeye121/sirens.htm My only correction is that Secomak's Type 447 was already in production as early as 1953 according to another archive's collection. Secomak was the com...
