Re: Found a Chrysler on top of the Poinsett Hotel

The Chrysler does use a Hemi 6.2 litre V8, right? This one likely has the first generation 331 Hemi (5.4L). I'm not sure if this was the only engine they used in production for the sirens since the 426 Hemi wasn't available until 1964. The 392 (6.4L) V8 wasn't around while the Chrysler Air Raid Sir...

Re: New Modulator II in Coppell, TX

I decided to update this thread since there are two other Modulator II installations I noticed recently. Very cool pictures, thanks for sharing! That exhaust manifold looks like it's about to fall into pieces.

Yep, the four port row is on the bottom on mine. I've not seen any other 4/5s close up to know for sure if that was consistent throughout production, I'd imagine it was though.

Here are a couple of pictures from before I reassembled mine.

Re: Whelen 4008 - Fire Station #8 - Plano, TX

Is it almost as loud as a p-50? They are rated at 132db which is pretty close. The 4008s aren't even remotely close to a P-50 in terms of output. The ones in Plano seem to be quiter than the ones in McKinney for some reason. I don't know if it's the tone that McKinney uses, but I suspect McKinney h...

Re: Whelen 4008 - Fire Station #8 - Plano, TX

Do you know about when these were installed? According to the guys with the city I spoke to when I saw this one a few years back (formerly installed by the Gleneagles Country Club off of Park Rd. but had a rotation failure and was replaced by a 2910), the year that was stamped into the compression ...

Sometime next year AFAIK. The communications dept approved a replacement of three per year and the ones I heard were next to be replaced are #7, 9, and 10.
