Whelen 4008 - Fire Station #8 - Plano, TX

Here's another 4008 for y'all. This one is labeled siren #9 on the north end of town and is supposed to be going away soon. I figured I'd get a video of it before it morphs into a 2910. Enjoy!

Re: Thunderbolt 1003A help and pictures.

Also as a side note the screen for the projector is gone. Is there any way to replace it with standard window screen? From what I have seen used it would appear that hail screen was installed at the factory....hail screen is available at your favorite hardware store..... To echo the previous reply,...

Recordings from 8-3-16

Here are a few videos I took yesterday around the metroplex. Unfortunately, my camcorder was acting up so I was only able to get footage from my phone. Fortunately the footage is relatively decent. The first video is one of the 10 remaining Whelen 4008s in Plano, TX. This siren is located by Windhav...

Re: Thunderbowl 1000 chopper bearing help.

Those spanner nuts can be difficult to remove for the first time. They aren't reverse-threaded or anything (the lock washer keeps it from moving regardless of which direction the motor is spinning). The proper way to remove one is to use a spanner wrench that is the correct size and has the correct ...

Re: Lubbock, TX Road Trip *Warning Lots of Pictures*

And also, can you post the location of the Motorola Siren in Crosbyton, TX? I'm interested in seeing it on Street View. Here's a couple of screenshots of it on streetview. I think SirenkiD has some actual pictures of it. Here's the streetview location. https://goo.gl/maps/U2vnaasEhPk I'm glad y'all...

Lubbock, TX Road Trip *Warning Lots of Pictures*

Here are some pictures of various sirens I came across on the way to Lubbock a couple of days ago. I didn't stop by all the sirens in each of the towns I passed through, otherwise the trip would have taken forever. I just stopped by the ones I could see off the highway. I also went by the remaining ...

Re: Dallas TX area sirens

All of the remaining 4008s in Plano are still active. However, they are being replaced three per year with 2910s so get your pictures and recordings while you can. I am currently unsure about the Grand Prairie P-50s. From what I can tell from satellite imagery, they have survived the recent replacem...
